Challenging times continue to highlight the importance of the manufacturing sector to the future of the UK economy. Recognising and celebrating achievement is a vital issue, and this year Palletline was proud to sponsor the Supply Chain and Logistics category in The Manufacturer Awards for Excellence, underlining our own commitment to innovation and commercial success.More than 450 people, mainly from the manufacturing sector, attended the gala dinner where the Awards for announced, held at Chesford Grange in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Award winners ranged from blue chip giants like Michelin Tyres UK, winners of the Manufacturing in Action Award, through to industry innovators like Sheffield-based Gripple, winner of the People and Skills category.
The Supply Chain and Logistics Award sponsored by Palletline was won by Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer. Based in Kent 1698, owning and operating over 360 high quality pubs and hotels throughout the South East of England, the company brews premium ales including 'Spitfire' and 'Bishops Finger', as well as internationally renowned lagers.
The event was considerably enhanced by the wit and eloquence of Lord Digby Jones of Birmingham, who delivered an inspiring keynote speech, underlining the importance of manufacturing in the UK and emphasising the importance of business as the sole real wealth generator and originator of all tax revenue.
