Investing in resources and skill sets across the network, Palletline has announced the launch of an in-house ‘Academy’ providing access to professional, educational and training facilities for its Member Companies nationwide. The Palletline Academy has a remit to develop and strengthen the technical and practical skills of all those engaged in the delivery of Palletline services. The recent introduction of new technology has underlined the need for network-wide training schemes to ensure correct implementation of services, and Palletline is now expanding this concept to include other transport-industry related training schemes, from forklift truck programmes through to NVQs.Associated benefits for customers using Palletline palletised distribution services include greater consistency of performance right across the network through rigorous training procedures. This is combined with a guarantee of continuous improvement across all business disciplines through incorporation of mandatory training modules into the requirements of the Palletline Charter.Focusing purpose-designed training programmes under the Palletline banner enables the network to ensure a defined level of attainment across a range of service provisions. This in turn is motivated by the fact that the people driving performance and achievement in the palletised distribution industry must be better skilled than their competitors. Recent training included effective claims handling, professional business development, customer services and freight scanning. The results are already in evidence. Palletline’s recent introduction of new freight scanning procedures in support of enhanced freight visibility saw every single Member Company putting several employees through a tailored training programme. As a result, Palletline’s successful scanning percentages are the highest in the industry at over 99%.

“We recognise that ours is essentially a people business, and the skills of our people are our strengths,” stated Managing Director Kevin Buchanan. “We must invest in our people to achieve our objectives and differentiate our services.”
