Palletline opens doors at new central hub
12 November 2008
This week saw Palletline Plc commence operations from the company’s new central hub premises in Solihull, south of Birmingham, achieving a total pallet throughput of over 10,000 in the first 24 hours, working with a unique and advanced operational model underlining Palletline’s position at the leading edge of the pallet distribution sector. .
Alongside more than trebling pallet throughput capacity, the new hub brings together a highly efficient operating model based around total quality control. Palletline is the first palletised distribution network to operate a drive-through, side-load operation, successfully achieving total depedestrianisation and realising Health & Safety standards well beyond the requirements of legislation covering the palletised distribution sector. Each and every vehicle bringing freight to site passes twice through advanced vehicle scanning lanes in a purpose-built quality control centre, undergoing rigorous freight checking procedures to achieve total traceability and service consistency.
Massive investment in technological improvements will also see the implementation of a data card system to track vehicle and individual pallet location, facilitating efficient prioritisation of freight, as well as the introduction of web-based ‘virtual bay’ systems providing total transparency in terms of volume and consignment information for Palletline Member Companies nationwide
